Mentoring Requirements
We’ve made it easy for you to be a part of the lives of kids throughout Perth County. Below are the requirements and the process of becoming a mentor.
1. MENTORS CAN BE AGE 18 – 118
2. CALL 271-7133 OR SEND US AN EMAIL. They’ll help you make an informed decision about a mentoring option that fits your schedule and personality.
3. CHOOSE FROM OUR PROGRAMS to find the best fit for your time level and interests…
- Community-Based Mentoring
Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples, Big Families & Cross-Gender Matching
Time Commitment: 2 hrs/week, usually commit 1 yr at a time (flexible times available) - Site-Based Mentoring
- In School Mentoring – a one-to-one friendship with a child at their school;
Time Commitment: 1 hr/week for 1 semester or 1 school year- Go Girls and Go Guys – a short term school based group centered around healthy choices
Time Commitment: 1 hr/week for 6 weeks- Skill-Based Mentoring – Bigs 4 Literacy, Arts Mentoring
Time Commitment: donate your skill one time for one hour or as often as you’d like
- Volunteer Mentoring Options for Teens
- Grade 11 & 12 teens can help mentor younger kids in site-based programs;
- Older teens can do their Co-op placement at Big Brothers Big Sisters
