The Matching Process
We love seeing the smiles of parents and children involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters. Year after year we read testimonials from kids, parents and volunteers of how mentoring has changed their lives.
With that being said, we do not have enough mentors to help every child. If your child needs specialized services or has serious behavioral problems, you need the help of a qualified professional. If a traditional match with a mentor is right for your child, It will take time to find the right match for them. Below is the process we follow to determine how we can best meet your needs.
1. Call 271-7133 to talk to us or send us an email. We’ll answer all the questions you have and set up an orientation session for you.
2. All parents must first attend an orientation session. We’ll go over the following:
- Our programs
- What we can and can’t do for your child
- The time your child will spend with his/her mentor
- The process of applying, waiting and meeting your child’s match
- Your expectations
- Which program is best for your child
3. Complete the necessary application forms
4. Wait for us to match your child
5. Meet your child’s match and start the power of mentoring
During your child’s waiting time, you will have access to all of our skill-based programs. If a traditional match is not available or is not the best solution for your child, we will recommend the best option for them to experience the power of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
