Community-Based Mentoring
Community-Based Programs include Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples and Big Families and Cross-Gender. You don’t have to come up with special activities or be a parent. You just have to be a friend. In fact, we find that mentoring works better when you just include a child as part of the things you love to do.
Usual Time Commitment: 2 hours a week
Length of Commitment: usually 1 year at a time, but this is flexible with things like summer matches, etc…
If you don’t feel you’ll have enough time or can’t commit long enough for a traditional match, you can still make a huge impact in the life of a child. Take a look at In-School Mentoring, Go Girls & Go Guys or our skill-based programs, like ARTS Mentoring. They range from 1 hour/week during the school year to 1 hour in a year.
